CVI projects

Three projects linked to Grupo Caba Gallinat have received support from the Industrial Value Chain Promotion Programme (CVI) of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism. The initiatives, promoted by TMI, Iclotet and upandbike, have a combined eligible budget of €5,934,621.71 and total funding of €2,414,711, according to the current implementation documentation.

The support recognises three industrial developments with different fields of application and one common element: integrating artificial intelligence, advanced automation and data management into physical products designed to operate in real-world environments.

Three projects with specific industrial objectives

ProjectApplicationBudgetFunding
TMI / PackFlexIASmart and connected flexible packaging3.226.387,55 €1.451.874 €
IclotetClassification and recovery of plastic crates1.705.784,37 €511.735 €
upandbike / PARKONBIKESmart bicycle parking1.032.449,79 €464.602 €

PackFlexIA will enable TMI to evolve its bagging, palletising and wrapping equipment towards solutions capable of self-adjusting, detecting anomalies, anticipating maintenance needs and simulating changes through a digital twin. The project combines productivity improvements at the end of the line with advances in precision, flexibility and resource use.

Iclotet will develop a modular line for inspecting, sorting, folding and stacking plastic crates with a target capacity of 4,000 units per hour. Machine vision and AI will determine the condition of each crate, while unit-level traceability will make it possible to record and use data throughout the entire process.

upandbike will undertake the design of PARKONBIKE, a new bicycle parking system featuring integrated electronics, image processing, AI, IoT connectivity and secure communications. The project will progress from specifications and mechanical design to pre-series prototypes and validation testing.

Shared industrial capabilities

Although each initiative targets a different market, all three draw on complementary capabilities in mechanical engineering, automation, manufacturing, software, electronics and project management. The Group will coordinate overall monitoring and documentary compliance, while maintaining specific technical teams for each development.

The joint effort will expand internal knowledge in artificial intelligence applied to machinery, sensors, industrial connectivity and prototype validation. It will also strengthen the ability to turn this knowledge into scalable products and digital services for customers, users and public administrations.

Innovation with an impact on productivity and sustainability

The CVI Programme aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Spanish industry and support its transition towards more innovative, sustainable and digitalised processes. The three projects contribute to this objective through tangible applications: reducing consumption and downtime on packaging lines, improving the recovery of returnable packaging and enabling safer infrastructure for cycling mobility.

Progress will be communicated gradually as milestones are completed and results are validated. Planned activities include technical publications, participation in trade fairs and events, digital content, webinars and demonstration sessions aimed at the industrial ecosystem and the relevant application sectors.
