Barcelona hosted the Grand Départ of the 2026 Tour de France, one of the most internationally renowned cycling events.

On Sunday, 5 July, supervised parking was also available at Parc de Joan Miró, MNAC, Avinguda Miramar with Plaça Carlos Ibáñez, and Passeig de Lluís Companys. 

In addition, some Bicing stations located within the race circuit and in Montjuïc were temporarily out of service during the event, while nearby stations remained operational with increased capacity. 

This initiative highlights an important point: when a city wants to encourage sustainable mobility during periods of high visitor numbers, it must also plan where bicycles can be parked safely. 

And this reflection should not be limited to a one-off event.
